International IPPOG Masterclass in University of Athens

Sixty high school students together with their teachers from twenty schools in the Athens area came to the University of Athens on 1 April 2014 in order to learn about particle physics, CERN and become researchers for a day. In the morning, lectures were given by professors from the University of Athens. In the afternoon while the students attended a hands-on experience, a special session with the teachers took place. The teachers were introduced to the project in a lecture given by Dr. A.Lazoudis of EA. They were encouraged to subscribe to the project's data base and different possibilities about their action plan were discussed. Additionally, the students used the HYPATIA event display to look for Z and Higgs bosons. At the end of the day the students compared their results with those of institutions from other countries in a video conference.
